Synopsis: We know what happened with Sakura and Syaoran when the cards were released. But what was happening in England?
“So it’s begun, has it?”
Spinel managed to make even this momentous occasion sound droll and ordinary. Eriol turned to smile at the Guardian, not at all put off by his tone.
“Indeed it has,” Eriol said. He looked rather proud of himself, and had a right to since his long-placed plan had finally been set into motion. Preparations for this day had begun with Clow himself. The burst of sudden magic from the book, felt by all of them, had announced the release of the cards.
"You’re finally going to get what you want, Eriol,” Spinel said as he stretched lazily.
Any reply Eriol may have had was cut off as Nakuru bounded into the room, the very picture of unbridled enthusiasm. The Guardian twirled over to stand behind Eriol, peering around with curiosity. “Eriol, aren’t you excited?” The tone of the question suggested that one would have to be insane not to be.
“Yes, Nakuru, I am,” the wizard confirmed with a patient smile.
“Yay!” Eriol was nearly choked as the Guardian’s arms were thrown about his neck in glee. “That means we are going to Japan now, right?”
Eriol shook his head, eyes seeming to darken as the plot whirled around in his head. “Not quite yet.”
Nakuru pouted, sticking out a lip as though that would change anything. Spinel had returned to the book he had been reading and seemed to be making a big show of ignoring Nakuru’s antics. Eriol suspected that he was just as excited as the Moon Guardian.
“A beginning is a very delicate time,” Eriol reasoned amiably. “I don’t want to interfere with the new would-be Master just yet. I am eager to see how she performs on her own.”
That response elicited a pleased noise from Nakuru. The Guardian always seemed to get a kick out of Eriol’s plotting. “Later then.”
Eriol smiled at the thought. "Yes, we will go to Japan later."
